Enemies Within

Computer Virus -  it  is actually a small software program this spreads from one PC to another computer which interferes with computer operation. A computer virus could corrupt or erase data on a laptop or computer, use an e-mail program in order to spread the virus to computers, or even remove everything on the drive.

Computer viruses usually are most easily spread by attachments throughout e-mail messages or through instant messaging messages. As a result, you must never open a e-mail attachment unless you recognize who sent the material or unless you expect the e-mail attachment. Computer viruses can be hidden as attachments connected with funny images, cards, or audio and video information. Computer viruses furthermore spread by using downloads on the Internet. Computer worms can be hidden inside pirated software possibly other files or maybe programs that you may acquire.

Here are some common viruses and malicious wares that usually got tangled within the net of my computer protection system.

HIJACKER
Hijackers are software programs that modify users' default browser home page, search settings, error page settings, or desktop wallpaper without adequate notice, disclosure, or user consent. When the default home page is hijacked, the browser opens to the web page set by the hijacker instead of the user's designated home page. In some cases, the hijacker may block users from restoring their desired home page. A search hijacker redirects search results to other pages and may transmit search and browsing data to unknown servers. An error page hijacker directs the browser to another page, usually an advertising page, instead of the usual error page when the requested URL is not found. A desktop hijacker replaces the desktop wallpaper with advertising for products and services on the desktop.

  • Explorer32.Hijacker
This is an elevated risk and should be removed or quarantined as it may compromise your privacy and security, make unwanted changes to your computer's settings, and negatively impact your computer's performance and stability.

TROJANS
Trojan is a general term for malicious software that is installed under false or deceptive pretenses or is installed without the user's full knowledge and consent. Most Trojans exhibit some form of malicious, hostile, or harmful functionality or behavior.

  • Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT
  • VirTool.Win32.Obfuscator.da!d (v)
These are high risk and should be removed immediately as it may compromise your privacy and security, make dangerous changes to your computer's settings without your knowledge and consent, or severely degrade your computer's performance and stability.

  • Trojan.Win32.Kryptik.mkx (v)
This is a moderate risk and should be removed or quarantined as it may negatively impact your privacy and security or make unwanted changes to your computer's settings.

*Win32 - It is the core interface Windows uses to communicate with the programs that run on it.  It is important because without it, the programs can't communicate with Windows.  And therefore they can't run on it!

Hunting for Cheap Wedding Gowns

For most brides-to-be, wedding gowns are on the top of their list of their wedding budget. Spending too much money on a gown that will likely be worn only once isn’t economically sound. Thus, the most critical thing to do to prepare for a budgeted wedding is to hunt for cheap wedding dresses. There are a several ways by which you can find cheap and affordable wedding gowns.

First, don’t waste time on bridal boutiques. You won’t be able to find cheap wedding dresses there. Another way is to consider ordering your wedding dresses from bridal brokers. Their gowns are brand new and are often offered at discounted rates ranging from 20 to 30 percent off. One advantage of this method is that you can order and wait for the dress to be shipped directly to your house. You can try calling the Discount Bridal Service or to order from J.C. Penney’s bridal catalog. The latter does not offer discounts, but the prices of their dresses are quite affordable.

Surfing the Internet is also highly recommended because there are numerous great sites that offer affordable and cheap wedding gowns, including www.weddinggowns-wholesale.com. To save money on designer styles, you can choose a custom designed gown by selecting an online seamstress that can copy the style of an expensive gown. One such good online tailor is www.tailoredwedddinggowns.com.

Another smart way to save on wedding dresses is by using your mother’s gown or by borrowing the gown from someone. All you need to worry then is the alteration expenses.

If your big day is of the less-formal type, you can wear a bridesmaid dress or a more casual gown instead. They are more affordable than a wedding gown. Depending on the material used and fashion style, using an alternative fabric can sometimes help saving money too. For instance, rather than buying an expensive silk gown, you can ask the seamstress to make another gown that uses cheaper materials.

Effective Link Building Tips

Link building is a Search Engine Optimization Process and it is one of the most important factors for achieving top search engine rankings. When building links to your website, there are what you are supposed to do and what you are not supposed to do in order to achieve high search engine rankings. It is also important to know that link building includes both on page and off page linking.

RELEVANCY
Relevancy is a very important factor to consider when trying to acquire backlinks for your website, even though quality links from unrelated websites can help increase your website authority, links from relevant websites tend to help you easily rank better as it let the search engines know that you are in the same category with the website.

ANCHOR TEXT
Usage of anchor text is very important in achieving High Search engine rankings, If you could have the right amount of backlinks using the anchor text of your choice, then you can easily rank for a keyword without you having it’s traces on your website. Try as much as possible to also use variation of anchor text when building links to your website, if you use “home work” today, then use “work home” tomorrow. This is really important because it makes the search engines trust you and your site will not look like a spam site.

DEEP LINKING
It is important to consider deep linking to internal pages of your website using your desired keywords, it is not a good practice to focus all your link building efforts to your homepage only but also to other relevant pages on your website. Deep linking also helps a very old page of a particular websites; it notifies the search engines of the pages and also makes them think the page is still relevant thereby increasing it ranks in the Search Engine Ranking Position (SERP). A good idea is to try to get a minimum of 5-15 links to every pages of your website and within a short period of time the inner pages of your website will begin to rank for various long tail keywords.

AUTHORITY
The authority of the website or page linking to you is also very important in achieving top search engine rankings, getting links from only low quality websites will make the search engines keep more eyes on you, because it is related to a blackhat practice in which a user create multiple blogs and tries to make them link to a particular website. Try to get links from established websites in your niche, also try to get links from educational, government and military sites as this tends to make your website more of an authority to the search engines.

CONSISTENCY
The consistency of the links you get to your website is also very important, it wouldn’t be a good option to build 100 links on day 1 and then change it to 10 on day 2 neither will it also be a good option to build 10 links on day 1 and 100 links on day 2, try to build links with consistency, try as much as possible to make sure all your links are of the same number each day and if you want to increase the number of links make sure it is a gradual process.

Above all, try to get backlinks from relevant and authority sites most especially in your niche, be consistent in doing this and in a little period of time you will see an increase in your search engine rankings and in organic search traffic.

Bad Image?

The advertisement of McDonalds, a renowned food chain was being criticized by the Catholic church in the Philippines because it shows bad example and not a good image to children. All this times, they have nothing to do except criticizing things which are not on their line. They just wanted publicity for themselves.

A Brief history on Flower Girl Dresses

Flower girls are known to have been taking part in weddings since ancient times. Even though we have been through changing times of fashion and seen changes in the roles of members of conventional wedding ceremonies, the role of flower girl remains consistent in weddings. In the weddings of modern times, flower girls go before the bride down the walkway, with their gowns often matching the bridesmaids' dresses. They may hold flower baskets or spread petals. Because of their cute appearance, flower girls often attract the guests’ attention. These lovable flower girls and the charming bride never fail to steal the show.

Flower girl dresses changed throughout history and will carry on evolving as time goes on. Below herewith we take a short passage back in time to the beginning of flower girl:

The first flower girl ever recorded in history dated back to the ancient Roman times. Back then, these lovely young girls hold sheaths of wheat and herbs. This bounty was associated with blessings of prosperity and fertility. Then, in the medieval times, the flower girls carried garlic. This is mainly due to the Black Plague in Europe. Garlic was carried not only to ward off evil spirits, but also because of its antibacterial nature. The garments worn by the follower girls were the same as that of the bride.

It was in the Victorian era that the flower girl dresses began to look as they do today. Dresses were generally made of white or ivory muslin with a colored ribbon sash. As with the need to seek affordable wedding gowns, these dresses were rather more practical and less formal than what it is today. Flower girls signify beauty, innocence and wishes for healthy children.

During the Edwardian times, flower girl dresses with satin sashes continue to be popular. The style of the dresses generally followed that of the adult gowns. They began to emulate not only in color, but the style of the bridesmaid dresses. From 1920’s to the 1960’s, flapper style designs were commonly used for flower girl dresses. It wasn’t until the 1960’s that full elegant style was introduced.

In the present days, the demand continues to grow and focus more on superior design in bridal flower girl dresses. The designs and styles should appeal to both children and adults. The dresses should be elegant and lovely. These special occasion dresses must be sweet, fashionable and fun creations. The role of flower girls and their dresses change throughout history and will continue so in the future. The only thing that will remain constant would be they will always be the sweet little princesses who are fun loving and joyful.

Speed Up

I have been downloading stuff using torrents in torrent sites like TPB, isoHUNT, Seedpeer and BTJunkie and these short list has been somehow very helpful to me in speeding up my downloads. Upon sharing this, hope this could help you too. Enjoy!

QUICK FYI
torrent file stores metadata used for BitTorrent. It is defined in the BitTorrent specification.
A torrent file contains the URLs of multiple trackers and integrity metadata about all the pieces. It can also contain additional metadata defined in extensions to the BitTorrent specification. These are known as "BitTorrent Enhancement Proposals". Examples of such proposals include metadata for stating who created the torrent, and when.

Are You Ready to Have a Puppy?

This is the question that haunted me when my aunt told me that her friend will hand her a puppy. Am I ready to have one? If it will happen, it would be the first time that I will have a pet. I know that having puppy, you have to train, and buy things for her. You will purchase items that will let your pet look good. You will also need food supplies that even much higher than our food, daily check-up with the veterinary and grooming days with pet shops. These are just few things we have to consider before having a puppy or a pet. Therefore, having a pet is a bit costly. I passed by a pet store yesterday just to survey a few things that I need for my new pet. So, when I asked the saleslady, I was little bit amazed with the prizes. They are more expensive than of my things. So I went out from the pet shop and I thought of things that can save me from buying those things.

Following  are  some of the tips to keep you from spending a lot.

You need to keep your pet healthy. Be aware of the likes and dislikes of your pet. An alternative way of not spending much on dog foods, you may have homemade foods. Make sure you consult your veterinarian. Don’t risk the health of your pet.

To make your pet feel comfortable it needs also a dog bed. Dog beds are almost more expensive than dog foods. If you are creative enough you can make your own dog bed. You can recycle things from you home just like old pillows and clothing. Sew them to together and make a dog bed.

For your pet’s toys, you can give them a toy which looks like a Kong chew toy. Your dog need a chew toy for it helps in developing and maintaining jaw muscles and gums and teeth. But remember in choosing your chew toy you need to consider the needs, size and preferences.

When I was in the pet store I looked  for a dog carrier. It was really expensive. When I got home, I looked for my old bags that can be turned into a dog carrier. It just need a little sewing for the rounded  opening of the bag for your pet’s head. You can embellished the style you want.

From the tips above you can now save money for other things that our pets need. Perhaps  I may say that even this will be my first  time to have a pet, I am now ready to have one.

What Do You Think of Our President?

President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III
Analyzing the latest SWS survey shows that this is not just a dip in the public's perception of the President's performance but a precarious drop that is expected to continue as this administration enters its one year rule.

The fast slide came shortly after President Aquino purchased a Porsche, and the absence of concrete programs and solutions that defined what he termed as a "straight road" administration.

Aquino is being judged by the people under a "moralscope", and not as objectively as say, his performance against graft and corruption. Notice how vulnerable Aquino is. His ratings continue to drop across all socio-economic classes after just one contentious issue--a moral one.

Perceptions of the president's easy-going style of governance also harmed and continues to harm this administration.

So, Aquino is being judged not on actual performance but on his moral mis-steps. This is dangerous since political governance is different than moral governance. This is subjective assessment. How can an administration put up with that type of assessment?

This is why it is so dangerous for any political administration to mouth moral platitudes when it is supposed to govern based on established political principles, most of which are dependent not on moral values.

It's About Time

Monique Wilson, a respected stage actress, gives us another point of view and calls out to her colleagues on Willie Revillame’s treatment of Janjan, a 6-year-old boy who was made to dance like a gigolo in his primetime game show that beamed on national television last March 12, 2011.

Monique Wilson

The debate is no longer whether it was child abuse or not. The facts are plain to see. No one with a sense of respect for another human being can dispute that. The discourse now is how we, as Filipinos, as artists involved in the same industry that created Willy and shows like his, could have allowed this to go on for as long as it has.  And what is our individual and collective participation in it?

Let’s talk honestly about our TV networks.  The culprit now is TV5 – with its’ blatant lack of decency by even hiring someone like Willie Revillame – a callous, insensitive individual who preys on the needs of poor, uneducated Filipinos.  They hired him for ratings and money at the expense of the integrity, dignity and self-respect of the most vulnerable in our society. Now wasn’t channel 2 guilty of the very same thing?  Let’s observe very closely many other game shows and reality shows across all the networks – can we not deduce very overt similarities? That networks are propelled by greed – ratings, money? Is there really, in all honesty, a local network, that can claim they put human values above all that?  I don’t think so. I turn on the television to watch local shows and I feel uncomfortable.  We have news reports that are horrifyingly biased and sensationalist, we have noon- time variety shows that exploit women and insult our intelligence, we have talk shows that are intrusive, subjective and tasteless – the list goes on and on. I am not saying, of course, that all shows fall beneath our standards of human decency – there are some TV shows that go against the grain, break the boundaries and give us quality – but they are so few. Even how the networks create the demarcation lines – A and B for middle and upper class, C and D for lower class? What kind of senseless segregating is that? It’s like saying, depending on what “class” you belong to, you cannot “appreciate” certain kinds of shows.  This insults me as it should insult everybody. This is one of the roots of the problem.  ALL our TV networks dumb down audiences in one way or the other.  They keep the lines segregated. TV, like any other cultural form – and let’s face it, TV has become our common culture in the Philippines – should be used to EDUCATE, EMPOWER, INSPIRE, AWAKEN.  But when you see shows like “Willing Willie” – and many other similar shows – they do the opposite. They dumb down audiences. They disempower them by creating a mendicant society with game shows that promise “quick money”. They keep them dependent on hand- outs, instead of creating opportunities for them to build skills. There is nothing inspiring about this.

And now, we can all rant and rave, but unless we do something concrete about our rage – we will just be passive bystanders.  Sometimes it does seem insurmountable and overwhelming because the problem is huge. But we can play our part.  We can do just ONE thing. That is better than doing nothing at all. Whether that be creating an online petition to deliver to TV5, CRH or DSWD, or whether we boycott the sponsors of the show/s, or write letters to all our newspapers, or make your voices heard with your local congress representatives and let them know this is unacceptable to you.  I think we all need to take a good, long, hard look at our local shows – and if we feel they exploit our fellow Filipinos, whether they be children or women – then we MUST boycott the sponsors that enable them.  Boycotts are effective. They hit where it has a tangible monetary, economic effect. That is how apartheid South Africa crumbled. That is what is supporting the Palestinians right to self-determination with the BDS campaign now.  In the process we need to look at what we ourselves value. If we expect people to treat us with respect, decency, integrity and dignity – we must INSIST and DEMAND that everyone else should be treated in the same way.  And as artists, our responsibility is GREATER. We are part of this problem. When we remain silent, we allow this to continue. When we turn a blind eye, our apathy also abuses the vulnerable in our society. When we don’t demand artistic excellence in our fields and settle for mediocre entertainment, we are just as bad as the networks who just do things for profit. As artists, we must REFUSE to play. We must DEMAND more from our industry.

So this is a call to my fellow artists from television, film and theatre. Please let your voices be heard.  Don’t sit on the fence because you fear you won’t be given work.  It is this fear that networks also rely on to keep their machineries in place – machineries that not only lack some very basic human values, but also aesthetics. We keep saying Filipinos artists are world class – well let’s prove it now.  There are international standards we must insist on when it comes to our local entertainment industry – film, theatre, tv, etc – why should we settle for anything less?  We are part of the creation of our artistic culture – we must protect it and demand more for it. We must not allow it to be used for the continued exploitation of our fellow Filipinos.

Art and culture have value in our society.

  • They give us freedom to explore
  • They teach us how to listen
  • They keep us connected
  • They allow us to take in
  • They teach us to be involved

                           ■ to defy
                           ■ to demand
                           ■ to be full
                           ■ to live
                           ■ to stay awake
                           ■ to be present…..in the moment.

But most of all
They demand that we SERVE.

So please don’t waste these possibilities with your silence.
