How Facebook Changed my Life

From the time I moved to Facebook, a lot of people did the same. It’s cool, it’s fun, and it’s the best place to connect to other people across the globe. It has features that no other online community can provide, which makes it a reason for people to subscribe.

Facebook has changed my life in many ways. First, I was able to connect my friends living abroad. We can talk to each other through the Facebook chat box and we can share our photos together with the tagging application. Aside from that, we can also see each other through the video chatting. How amazing! I don’t need to open my Skype or Yahoo Messenger because Facebook can provide it already. Even if I’m away from home, I can still access my Facebook account through my mobile phone. I always keep in touch with my friends and family because anywhere I go, I can browse my Facebook account and see who’s adding me up or who replied to my latest status. It’s definitely the best online community so far.

Second, Facebook is a great venue to meet new friends and to find the old friends I had before. Since a lot of people subscribe to this social networking site, there is no way that I cannot find my old buddies in school - even my grandparents living afar are having their accounts too! By just putting a name in the search box tool, Facebook will find what I look for. Moreover, it also has a lot of game applications, which I consider to be the third reason on how Facebook changed my life. I can spend my spare time planting and harvesting crops in my farm at Farmville or I can build my dream restaurant at Café World. Whatever game I play, I am sure it’s going to consume a lot of my time because it’s addictive and enjoyable.

Fourth, Facebook gave me a lot of opportunities such as establishing an online business or applying for a job. I can make my own account for my business, upload pictures of my products, add friends and tag the pictures to them. So simple! In addition to that, companies are having Facebook accounts as well. This enables me and other people to know the latest job vacancies and how the job application process goes. There is no need to call the company for any concerns because with Facebook, all things can be addressed as soon as possible.

I know there are a lot of people like me who find Facebook a very unique online community. It has changed my internet routine because whenever I open my computer, first thing that comes to my mind is Facebook.

How about you? How did Facebook changed your life? Share your story.

5 Ways Facebook Complicates Our Dating and Social Lives

Analysis Paralysis
Freely available information or slander concerning your current partner, your ex-partner or even a prospective love interest can simply be too much to handle! Including your partner in your Facebook dialogue and friends list is a recipe for disaster. Things have a nasty way of being taken out of context on Facebook. For example, you might happen to come across a photo of some girl who has been tagged in a photo up close and flirty with the guy you’re dating. It might be totally innocent, yet a state of anxiety and panic starts to set in regardless.

Rumor Mill
5 Ways Facebook Complicates Our Dating and Social LivesPart of the Facebook functionality allows people on your friends list to speculate about your relationship and dating status. Regardless of how you choose to set your relationship status, your friends have the ability to post all kinds of pictures of you that could easily raise speculation about your single status - a picture says a thousand words.

Humiliation
Dating is awkward enough at the best of times. Facebook makes dating even worse. Many guys won't hesitate in firing off a compulsive introduction email to a girl he doesn't know that's on his friends list. Even if she doesn't reply, he may go a step further and write on her wall, so EVERYONE can see how desperate his is. And if this girl has somehow ended up on his friends list, there's a chance they'll cross paths in real life through mutual friends making his efforts not only embarrassing, as well as a public spectacle both on and offline.

Unwanted Facebook Stalkers
Meaning: Lonely men + Facebook = Stalkers. Most stalkers go away after a few failed attempts to engage their admirer. But like anything in life, there's always a bad apple no matter where you go, it comes down to the law of averages. However, Facebook does allow people to minimize their exposure to unwanted communications via their profile settings, unfortunately, few people make use of this option. You can limit access to your Facebook account by limiting access to your wall and other photo or status updates.

Facebook Crush
Rather than providing you with loads of dating options on Facebook, the guy or girl you have a crush on tends to keep giving you more questions rather than answers in terms of their relationship status. "Why doesn't he/she set their relationship status, they must be a player." Or "I wonder who that girl is that seems to be in lots of his photo's, sister? cousin? lover?"

Seemingly, Facebook looks like an enormous smorgas board of single people. But of you speak to people who use Facebook as a means for finding dating opportunities, the facade doesn't always live up to the truth.

What Facebook does offer though, are sophisticated online dating apps for single people. And it's through these apps that are connecting millions of single guys and girls who have downloaded the same app. These dating applications tap into the Facebook network thus pairing people up based on compatibility thanks to their Facebook information.

Facebook is an extremely powerful social tool, but it is wise to know the best ways in which to utilize the massive reach it provides.

Great Ways to Achieve More Facebook Likes

Social networking sites are not only used for communication tools nowadays – it’s already used for marketing. If you have a product or brand that you want to offer and let more people know about it, infusing social networking sites is one of the best moves you can do. In Facebook, you can do it by making a brand page and letting it “liked” by other people. The more “likes” it has, the more popular your brand will become. It is one of the most important factors in making your brand popular but it’s also one that quite a challenge. Of course, you won’t have hundreds of “likes” in a day but it will surely produce great results over time – if done appropriately.

First, you have to set up a Facebook page that provides information about your brand. It may be a product, service, or idea – you just have to provide the necessary details. Once you have done this part, you can start your journey on acquiring the “likes” for your page. Here are some of the things that you must remember to be successful in this marketing strategy.

Bogus Liking Services
Always remember – Facebook likes happen naturally. You don’t acquire “likes” from people instantly by telling them to do so (unless they are your friends and family). One of the most annoyed scams nowadays involves companies that try to sell merchants more like button hits. Most of these services are bogus - they’re nothing but fake accounts that are set up to look like real profiles. Some of these tricks even take advantage of lured people and take away their money right away.

You don’t want to do this mistake. Well, it will certainly earn you some money but it will never last long. Once people are aware of your scam, you’re out of the system. It’s always great to play fair and provide information that interests people. It will always create best results in the long run.

Branding Your Business
Building up a huge amount of followers in Facebook will be very hard if you don’t have a brand to incorporate with your website or services. When users follow a Facebook page, they are not really following a website – they follow a certain brand! They make a connection with it and they share it with others. Figure out the best way to connect with your target audience – it may be an emotion, promotion, or discount. You need to find something that will let people connect to it.

Facebook Like Box and Fan Page
Facebook is so useful that you can even infuse its use to your website – by using the Facebook like Box. You just have to let it sit on your website template that will make your visitors hit the button. It’s a great way to create Facebook fans and you can only do it by placing it in a strategic location. Plan your website well and make sure it’s noticeable once people visit your website. With the use of a custom Facebook landing page for your fan site, you can allow your brand to stand out just a little bit more – compared to dropping people off in your wall.

Give Your Audience a Reason
Why do you “like” a Facebook page? You must ask yourself this question first to understand the things that will allow your target audience to “like” your page. Once you have the idea, you can add some flavor by offering discounts and promos for your latest product or service. You’ll be surprised on how you got a thousand “like” for a single day. Make your page more interesting and create a buzz out of the social networking site. Having a contest is also a great way to improve your fan page. You just have to make an agreement that they can only enter the contest once they have liked your Facebook page.

FB in Newsletters
The use of newsletters will not only provide information, it will also give you a chance to attract more Facebook followers than ever. You just have to put in your Facebook page and invite recipients to visit it to know more about your latest services.

Start Writing
Most people surf the internet because they want to see or read something interesting. If you have a blog that interest a lot of people, you can always place your Facebook page in it. Engage in social media by writing interesting stories in your content engine. Once you have achieved a lot of traffic in your blog, your Facebook “likes” does the same.

Darker Side of Using Facebook

Facebook is the famous social networking site that no one can ever beat. Though, there are various networking sites available like twitter, YouTube, Facebook appears to be the most well-known among all other social networking websites that can be found online. According to reliable research and surveys, Facebook has 350 millions of followers worldwide. Therefore, do followers get positive benefits on it? How about the negative or bad side of using Facebook? If a certain product or site has good benefits, the bad side will never be absent and that’s a fact and real.

Facebook has been part of every people’s heart and mind. Most of individual usually takes a sit in front of her/his own PC every day or will go to an internet cafe while soaking in Facebook account. Yes, checking Facebook will be done most of time of a single day. Checking account like confirming as well as chatting with friends, glancing photographs with other pals, posting quotes or messages to your friend’s wall and etc. Those are the routine passions that every one are addicted on Facebook daily. On the hand, business companies normally benefited Facebook. Why? Facebook have millions of followers, using Facebook to advertise or promotion is indeed a big advantage to business owners as many followers or users will visit this medium.

Though, we have already well-versed the fundamental profits of Facebook, there are bad side in using Facebook as well. Can you say publicly some of them? To give you the bad side of using Facebook, here they are:
  • Facebook networking site can make daily task or works unfocused. For instance you are working either on government agencies or in private companies, it has been known that most of the employees who are working on the said agencies will take a short glance on their Facebook account while in the hours of works. How much more if you are assigned in making payrolls or typing documents in your office, the great possibility that you can view Facebook everyday.
  • Facebook is one way of making and trusting friends though you did not know him/her for a long time. However, it depends on the followers if she/he will trust immediately to strange people. Much news that has been published about killing incident because of Facebook. Meeting a certain strange people and will end up into bad circumstances.

  • Facebook is provides great influences to young children. If your child will not be guided accordingly using Facebook, it will make her/him addicted at young age. In this reason, they can’t get focused while studying in school. They are thinking on checking on their account in Facebook. As a result, they will earn low grades. Therefore, parental guidance must be applied.

  • Facebook can make excess additional works. Time is gold. Checking your account, friend’s account, chatting with friends, adding friends, update friends profile, posting comments as well as quotes can be your overworks. Therefore, it adds up your tiredness or can make yourself stressed. You can’t properly relax so that you will be ready for your daily jobs in which you are employed for the next day.

The best thing to do is to have self discipline in order to avoid that bad side of using Facebook. Discipline to yourself of course then if you have kids, you must guide and teach them how Facebook goes.

500 Million Ways to Make Money on FACEBOOK

With Facebook recently exceeding half a billion users, businesses of all types are realizing they have a big opportunity to monetize their efforts on the world’s largest social network.

To put this into perspective, compare Facebook to the largest retailer in the world, Walmart: Roughly 20 million people visit Walmart on a daily basis, whereas 250 million people visit Facebook each day. There is no other online marketing channel that can deliver this kind of reach. But before we look at some ways to actually drive revenue, it is important to understand that Facebook is not your traditional e-commerce channel and should not be used as a direct marketing tactic. The hundreds of millions of Facebook members have joined to share their personal stories through updates, images and videos within their social network — not to buy products. That being said, utilizing the social network as a sales channel is not a bad thing but should be handled carefully, like meeting a neighbor’s dog for the first time — approach with respect or risk being bitten. Aggressive behavior does not pay off. Prior to engaging in Facebook as a business outlet you must
develop a strategy for connecting with your customer base. Your strategy should be about quality not quantity of people that “like” your page. Taking the time to develop relationships with your fans, creating engaging content and measuring results are the three essential steps to an impressive return on investment.

STEP 1 Engage With People That Like Your Page
Start with an interesting and compelling Facebook Page that  differentiates your business from the competition. Apps are a good way for any business serious about marketing on Facebook to create a unique experience that helps you stand out. From sharing videos to contests, Facebook Apps are among the most used features on the platform. Add in the ability to share with friends and a strong Facebook App can have a huge impact on your ROI.

When we started working with e-commerce companies it was quickly realized that creating a separate tab that helps business owners showcase their products or services is the right approach. Constantly posting your products on your Facebook wall is considered bad etiquette and will turn people off, resulting in a sharp increase in the number of people “unliking” your page and, therefore, dismissing your brand. Creating a low-riskhigh-reward option for your customer is important, so always put yourself in the customers’ shoes when implementing any new Facebook ideas. There are thousands of amazing apps on Facebook and visiting
the Facebook App Directory is a good place to start, as well as talking with other business owners about which Facebook Apps they have found to be beneficial.

STEP 2 Create Engaging Content
A few months ago, I attended Facebook’s f8 annual conference and was able to capture the news feed optimization formula Facebook uses to decide what content shows up in a user’s top news feed. Showing this formula and how it is tied to Facebook’s current news options (top news vs. most recent) was genius, as
it really encourages you to do the right thing by your customer. Facebook news feed optimization has become a new type of  SEO. If you like or comment on updates from one particular Facebook page often, you are likely to see that business’ status update in your top news feed (the default setting) on a regular basis. The formula (shown below), called EdgeRank, looks at affinity score (how often the user interacts with the page), weight (how many comments or likes a post has), and time decay (how recent that update was posted). In many respects, this is not  unlike link building.

If you post content on your page that does not follow the  above formula you are wasting your time, as updates will not be seen by your fans. Before you press the share button, reread the post and make sure you are asking for engagement. For example, if you are thinking of launching a new product, ask the opinion of your customers.

If you are just starting out and have very few people following  your page, Facebook advertising is a great approach to reach the right people at the right time. Advertisers can request that ads are served based on what your customers have said they liked in their profile. For example, a Phoenix-based Mexican restaurant could promote a new brand of tequila to people on their birthdays that are located in the Phoenix area, based on the information from those users’ profiles. Before launch, Facebook will even show the number of estimated reach so as to not waste marketing dollars advertising to those less likely to engage.

STEP 3Measure Perfomance
Used with your Facebook Page, Facebook Insights offers valuable customer information. After reviewing age, gender and country of residence you can enhance or change your current Facebook strategy. Using this data, you can decide which content works best, the audience you are currently reaching and where improvements can be made.

In the end, it’s all about making social connections with your target audience. Too often, business leaders and owners think of their target audience as nameless, faceless people. Facebook brings the human touch to your relationships with  your customers; faces, names and conversations. And that is how you monetize Facebook — by creating a living dialogue with your fans.
